Oh man, i am so sorry! totally flaked out on the blog world for quite some time there. but i'm back! things have been a little hectic lately. i'm starting to realize why everyone warned me about my junior year. but! it's okay. i can do it. right? right.
so my friends and i definitely rented the hannah montana movie last night. it's okay, go ahead and laugh at me. i LOVED it. i'm not even exaggerating it was an amazing movie! definitely buying it -- and that's a lot coming from me, i never buy movies. :)
so today was an absolutely beautiful day! the weather was perfect sweatshirt weather. it felt like fall.... :)
also, i'm starting to get the hang of this cooking thing. i made some really good pizzas the other night with my friends AND pancakes yesterday morning. plus some other random things.
so this week on wednesday is the first time my Bible study meets! this is my first time leading one and i am really excited. i have some great girls, and i'm excited to see where God takes us. any fun ideas for a unique ice breaker? i feel like we've all done 2 truths and a lie five thousand times now... i want something fun :)
anyway... i'll definitely write a longer update soon, but i just wanted to pop in and say hi! i've missed reading everyone's blogs and writing on here.
oh wait one more thing!! the other day i observed a 5th and 4th grade classroom, & self contained classroom and this just made my whole morning...
little girl: are you are new assistant teacher??
me: no, i'm just here for the day.
little girl: darnit! i wish you were staying i like you!
me: aw me too! i'll be back. :)
she was so sweet. and all through the lesson she kept waving at me! precious!!
okay i am off to snack, do some studying, and watch a little tv with my roomie. have a good night!
p.s. cool revelation my friend made to me, i want to write it on here so i don't forget. when Jesus says, "Beloved," in the Bible -- it's kind of like He is saying "BE LOVED." allow yourself to let Him love you and work his ways on your heart. it made my whole day happier.

Yaaay! :) I love that you're backk!!
ReplyDeleteDo the toliet paper ice breaker! Take a roll of toliet paper with you and tell everyone to take as much or as little off the roll as they want, but don't tell them why until everyone has taken some. And after everyone has taken some, everyone has to tell something about themselves for every piece of TP they have. Or you can use chips or M&M's or something like that! That's one of my fave ice breakers! :)
haha--little experiences like that will continue foreverrrrr in the classroom with little kids...they'll be SO sweet one day and you'll love them, then the next they'll say, "Didn't you wear that last time I saw you?"...lol
ReplyDeleteHey there! it's SO cool that we have this much in common! YAY :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your Bible study... I just had to do a bazillion ice breakers with the freshmen I mentor, and a fun one was "Celebrity." You get a pad of sticky notes and have everyone stand in a circle. They all write the name of a person/character (pick a category, like Disney) on their sticky note. They stick it to their neighbor's forehead without the person looking, and then they go around in a circle and try to guess the name on their own forehead asking one yes/no question at a time ("Am I a girl?... "Am I a villain?" etc) It's really fun!
Last but not least... how CUTE, what that little girl said! I adore those moments and it's exactly what makes me excited to teach :)
I'm not sure how your school does it, but at mine I have to pick a major to go along with teacher certification. I'm majoring in Interdisciplinary Arts for Children and I love it! Basically I learn all about how to use dance/theatre/art/music in my regular classroom. My certification will cover 1-6th grade, General and Special Ed.
ReplyDeleteAre you doing anything along with Special Ed?
Ooh, your lbs degree sounds cool too! I've always found that kind of thing fascinating.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's funny you say that about being busy for a guy... now that the semester has started and I realize how much there is to do, I'm realizing it would be hard to throw a relationship into the mix too! God sure does know what He's doing :)
